The waste tank seal, the automatic pressure release vent seal and the
cap seal must be cleaned regularly. When the toilet is being used
frequently, monthly cleaning is generally sufficient.
We advise cleaning the seals and valve blade with Thetford Bathroom Cleaner.
Note! Never use household cleaners (Solvents or other
powerful cleaning agents). These may cause permanent damage to the
seals and other toilet components.
For cleaning your toilet:
- Squirt Thetford Bathroom Cleaner into the toilet bowl.
- Flush the bowl with water and wipe down the rest of the toilet with a damp cloth.
Tip! For a really shining toilet, dry it with a soft dry cloth after
cleaning.
- Thoroughly clean the seals and valve blade, using Thetford Seal
Lubricant and wipe them over with a cloth or a piece of toilet
paper. Repeat the above operation if the seal and blade are dirty or
if opening and closing the blade is difficult.
Note! Never use Vaseline or any vegetable oil. These may cause
leakage.
When the toilet is not being used for a long period, it is advisable to clean
the seals and then coat them lightly with Thetford Seal Lubricant. This will
ensure that they remain in good condition (supple).
N.B. The valve blade seal is a part of the toilet that is subject to wear. Depending on the extent and manner of maintenance, after a certain period the seal will lose quality and must be replaced.

For thorough cleaning of the flush-water tank of mobile toilets, we recommend our customers use ordinary Milton cleansing fluid.
Dose 50ml of Household bleach (Milton) cleansing fluid per 15 litres of flush water. Add directly into the flush-water tank and fill with clean water. Leave the solution in the tank for 24 - 48 hours, depending on the degree of contamination. Empty the tank by draining or flushing into an empty, clean waste holding tank. Rinse the flush-water and waste holding tanks thoroughly with clean water. Always empty the waste holding tank at a designated location. Do not use together with other products. Depending on the degree of contamination a second treatment may be required.
Note: Incorrect use or dosage could cause damage to seals and the level indicator. In case of doubt, reduce the dosage.

Regular maintenance is necessary to ensure the correct functioning of your Thetford refrigerator.
Cleaning
Tip! A good time to clean your refrigerator is straight after you have defrosted it.
- Clean the refrigerator with a soft cloth and mild detergent.
- Dust the refrigerator with a soft, moistened cloth.
- Use a brush or soft cloth once a year to remove any dust from the condenser at the inside of the refrigerator.
Important! Do not use soap or aggressive detergents that are abrasive or soda-based.
The removable interior components of the refrigerator are not dishwasher safe.
Defrosting
Frost will gradually build up on the condenser of the refrigerator. You should defrost the refrigerator as soon as the frost layer is about 3 mm thick. Frost reduces the refrigerating capacity and life of your refrigerator.
- Remove the ice cube tray and all food.
- Switch off the refrigerator.
- Leave the refrigerator door open.
- Place dry towels in the refrigerator to absorb the water.
- Place trays containing hot water in the freezer compartment.
- After defrosting (when the freezer compartment and condenser are frost-free), remove the towels and the water trays and use a cloth to dry off the refrigerator.
- Switch the refrigerator on again.
Important! Do not use force or sharp objects to remove frost. Do not try to accelerate defrosting by using a hairdryer for example.
Door locking mechanism
If the door is not closed properly, frost will form in the refrigerator. Close the door with a piece of paper between the door and the refrigerator, to determine whether the door closes properly. Pull at the piece of paper. If you feel resistance, the refrigerator door closes properly. If you feel no resistance, the door does not close properly. Perform this test regularly on all four sides of the refrigerator door.
If you find that the door does not close properly, check whether the door locking mechanism keeps the door properly shut.
